sweet tee

Filed under: Rebecca Taylor — Ginger @ 5:20 pm

Yesterday, I visited my favorite second-hand shop, called Second Time Around, where I found the most gorgeous Rebecca Taylor dress in a lovely blue silk. I was bummed to find out that it wasn’t in my size — not even close! With Ms. Taylor on my mind, I began to troll around the web for the dress. While I didn’t find it, I did find some other lovely ones, including this fabulous silk T-shirt dress in a fabric called “sugar.” I love that it’s feminine without being frilly and retro without being a throwback.

picture perfect

Filed under: Fighting Eel — Ginger @ 1:06 pm

Last time my friends and I went on a trip together, we went skiing, and being the Hawaii girl I am, I had nothing to wear. So I bought a bunch of stuff that was on sale, thinking, “I’m only going to wear it for the weekend. Who cares, as long as I’m warm?” Which would have been fine, except that now there are a bunch of pictures that will circulate photo albums and online profiles forever. Bleh!

So this time, I am determined to only bring things that I love. This is much easier, since our next trip will be in warm weather, which I know how to dress for. One thing that will definitely make it into my little suitcase is the Nellie dress from Fighting Eel’s Spring 2008 collection. The bold geometric pattern is sassy and the cut is totally flattering to show off newly tanned shoulders. I can’t help but love the spring collection also, just because it was photographed at Laniakea, where I used to work out! Oh, how I miss Honolulu…

I’d love to pair this frock with these fun, slightly wacky sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti!

oh, nanette!

Filed under: Nanette Lepore — Ginger @ 9:34 pm

I am absolutely in love with Nanette Lepore’s “Alluring” dress, which is that juicy red/pink that is taking over my closet. Maybe the model is trying to look alluring, but mostly she looks like she has to go to the ladies’ room — but ignore her, and check out the dress! So comfy looking, and I love the drape of the sleeves, ending in those sweet ties at the three-quarter sleeve cuff. It looks like the perfect thing to wear to celebrate the arrival of spring, once it gets here. If it ever gets here. (It snowed today.) I guess it would also be perfect to wear for Valentine’s Day, under a coat — or without one, if it gets warm enough! I am an eternal optimist.

starlight, star bright

Filed under: Velvet — Ginger @ 7:05 pm

I love love love the line Velvet, for their super comfy, ultra cute clothing, and their Barbi Dress is no exception…aside from the name. I do, however, love the name of the color they chose for the dress, which is milk. It does look drinkable, doesn’t it? Yum.

I always want to wear sweet, pretty dresses like these with my Vanilla Moon jewelry, which I wear alllllll the time anyway — it’s so versatile! My new favorite is the star disk necklace, which is one of Cathy’s newest designs.

still waiting for spring…

Filed under: Tracey Reese — Ginger @ 8:19 pm

I stumbled across this pretty, pretty, pretty Tracey Reese dress from her Plenty line — which, incidentally, is all pretty things. This one is my favorite, though. It makes me think of springtime and tulips, which is probably just because I really want it to be springtime with tulips and plum blossoms everywhere (which, of course, it won’t be for aaaaages).

I’d like to wear it with flat leather sandals and go to a market. Preferably a market that sells peaches, because I love peaches and we didn’t really have any good ones last year.
