September is as indecisive as I am when I haven’t had enough to eat (and believe me, that’s pretty darned indecisive)! Today it was summer again, at 85 degrees and humid, which made me glad that I haven’t put all of my summer dresses back into storage yet.
In the summery heat, I foundĀ this dress by Ella Moss at Shop LA Style…which is actually a perfect transitional piece, as it’s in that plum purple that is oh-so-in this fall. Comfy but elegant and wearable anywhere, this dress will become a staple in anyone’s closet.

I’m a terrible blogger! Horrible! After being berated by a darling friend who sporadically checks in on this blog, I’m back with my tail between my legs…with a fabulous new find, though.
While I am overjoyed to have found, at long last, the dress that I will wear to the Italy wedding, I am sad to say that Lord & Taylor has not put this dress on their website. I think that they did it on a short run, since they didn’t do anything else in the same style. It’s by “Kate Hill” which is the L&T label that makes some very elegant and affordable pieces. My favorite things of theirs at the moment are made of this gorgeous silk dupioni, like this sheath dress…

I also love the fullness of this Kate Hill skirt (similar to the skirt of the dress I chose)…

And at less than $50 for each of these, elegance has never been so completely within reach!
My smart smart smart sister told me about Mila Jovovich’s line for Go International, for Target, and today I went to check it out…so good! This dress is the kind of perfectly simple spring dress that I absolutely cannot wait to wear. It shouts, “SUNSHINE!” and believe me, anything that can make it feel warmer is more than welcome.

And because we can all use all the luck we can get, I think this lucky elephant necklace is absolutely perfect!

One of the reasons why I love dresses so much is because I like to be comfortable…so I generally don’t like to wear anything too constricting. I favor flowy, feminine shapes, like the ones in this gorgeous frock by Catherine Malandrino. Not only is it an absolutely flattering cut, but the fabric is the most gorgeous midnight blue-purple. Bravo, Ms. Malandrino!

I also love these flats, by Hollywould, which will reflect any gold jewelry you might choose to wear to make things even more exciting.

Aaaaagh! It’s snowing again! I blame this all on the groundhog. Next year, I’m going to go to the groundhog ceremony and as soon as the little guy comes out of his hole I’m going to hold a boom box over my head John Cusack-style and blare some Abba (groundhogs, if you don’t know, are notorious Abba fans). This will keep him from seeing his shadow, thus allowing an earlier spring, thus giving us ladies a few more weeks to wear dresses like this one.

I love all the happy butterflies! Butterflies are good luck. I seem to know all kinds of things about animals today. Maybe I should have become a zoologist instead…
Don’t you think these earrings would go perfectly? I love the way that the beads pick up on the color of the butterflies.
