Where do you live?
I live on the North Shore of Massachusetts, about 40 minutes outside of Boston. Originally, I’m from Honolulu, Hawaii. I also lived in London, England for two years and in Portland, Oregon for two years.
Why did you start Frock Files?
This blog grew out of a need to have a space that was all my own, where I could post inspiring things that I found. Then I was lucky enough to find my community within the blogging world and things slowly grew from there.
What did you do before Frock Files?
As you know, I’ve worked as a freelance writer and designer. I’ve also worked at a coffee shop, a salon, a chocolate boutique, a high end clothing store, a kids clothing store, a few publishing companies, and, most notably, a detective agency. Please don’t take this to mean that I’m flighty — I’m really not. These were almost all part-time jobs during school or temporary positions taken during the recession (and the subsequent dismantling of the publishing industry). But somehow, in some way, all of the skills I’ve learned from these jobs come into play in the work I do now. Oh, and I have a degree in English from the University of Hawaii, and a master’s degree in writing and publishing from Emerson College.
Who designed your blog?
I designed the blog and my dear friend Katie Price developed it. She’s a rock star.
Do you make money off of this blog?
Occasionally I do sponsored posts and as of February 2013 I’ve begun to offer advertising. However, most of my income comes from writing for other blogs and publications, designing websites, and taking pictures.
Do you have kids? Pets?
We’re the proud parents of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Kona. Neither of us ever envisioned ourselves as parents to human babies, but you never know where life will take you, right?
Do you offer advertising?
I sure do. Get in touch with me and I’ll be happy to send you the nifty details.
Where are your style posts shot?
We shoot the style posts in the woods that we live near, which we drive through daily. I don’t shoot style posts when it’s cold because, well, I’m a Hawaii girl at heart and I just can’t. I’ve tried.
What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Canon Rebel XT, which is my very first DSLR. Almost everything I photograph is shot using a 50mm 1.8 lens.
