Have you ever read about Border Collies? My dad read about them once and how they always need a task. He looked up at me and my mom and said, “Hey, that’s like you two!”
It’s true.
We’re snowed in this weekend, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be lounging around. There are walls to paint! Posts to shoot (and food from those posts to eat)! Crafty things to make! James would like to add this to the list: Naps to take! So maybe there’ll be some lounging. If you, too, are staying in this weekend, here are…
Five things that you can do without leaving the house:
Cook: A healthier version of my favorite thing to order at Chinese restaurants.
Make: This fun, shrinkable craft — or just watch the awesome video. OR write your own happy song. (Maybe one about sunshine?)
Listen: To this interview with women from three generations weighing in on their VERY different ideas on what women want. The 28-year-old pointed out that we want careers, but we also love Design Sponge and the crafts on Pinterest, and I thought, “THIS IS US!” I love how it relates to this tension I feel between feeling like a very domestic person but also wanting to have a successful career.
Have a wonderful weekend, whatever your weather may look like!

What is design sponge?
Love,
Mom
I love to stay in and read a good book too.
I’m a complete busy body too! Those crab rangoons looks scrumptious, and what a great idea to bake them! Somehow I missed out on shrinky dinks as a kid… will definitely have to look for that paper next time I’m at the craft store. Hope you have a wonderful (and productive) weekend, Joy!
Oh dear. We didn’t get any snow up here this year. None. SLC was my snow fill. As much as I don’t like snow, there is something so romantic about a snow day.
Listening to that interview now! Sounds interesting
I was just about to send you my apologies for being snowed in, but, heck, your weekend sounds like my kind of weekend – Creating, cooking, napping, and spending quality time together. The shrinky-dink and song creating video were really sweet and I can’t wait to read that interview. I find myself thinking about career so much at this period of my life. I’m really interested to read how other women feel about the topic. (Thank you for sharing.)
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, Joy!
Sorry, “listen” not read (!).
