I’m Home from Alt

First of all, thank you for all of your messages of love and support as I headed to my very first experience at Alt Summit! I can’t tell you how much better I felt knowing that I’d have friends to share this experience with, whether they were at the conference or not. You guys also gave this trip a sense of purpose: to soak it all in so that I can share everything I found valuable with you. And I promise, I will — starting tomorrow.

My flight got in during the wee hours of Sunday morning, and after a very long sleep James and I went out to enjoy the sunshine, since we won’t have much of it this week. And anyway, we missed each other way too much and needed the entire day to do nothing but hang out together.

Today I’m playing catch up. There’s work to do and a giant stack of business cards to sort through. And, you know, I think we’re all suffering from Alt withdrawals, a little bit. As glad as we are to be home, everyone I know who was there is going through a bit of an adjustment period. Who do we get dressed up for now? Where did all those sparkling new friends go? Why isn’t there a party to go to tonight? And why isn’t Stefan Sagmeister here during my lunch hour, being witty and charming???

So tomorrow, friends, come back prepared to learn. I got a lot of goodness both in and out of the seminars; some of the lessons are ones that I got one-on-one. And I can’t wait to share it all with you.

 Love, Joy

It was so wonderful to meet you in person Joy! I hope we get to meet again soon!

  3. Yay, you made it back. Welcome home, Joy! No cold, right? I really can’t wait to read all about your experience at Alt and see it through your eyes. First things first, take care of YOU and ease yourself back in.

  4. I can’t wait to hear all about it in more detail! YOU my friend are such an inspiration. I spy pretty Marimekko…

  5. I was hoping Stefan would show up at my lunch today too! Instead my dogs entertained me running under and over the furniture. So glad I finally got to meet you at ALT.

  6. Can’t wait to hear all about it!!

  7. I’m glad that you had such a great time! Alt is the only conference I know of that people are actually stoked to go to. I can’t wait to hear more about it (and yay for the blog debut of your elephant dress–looks great on you)! :)

  8. A day to rest/relax and a day to catch up sounds like a perfect way to transition back after a successful conference! I’m looking forward to hearing about what you learned, and I’m excited to see how Frock Files evolves after your Alt experience!
