Have you guys seen that quote, “Don’t compare your beginning with someone else’s middle“? I think it’s so important to remember that the people we admire have also worked really hard to get where they are. Since Judd Apatow and Conan O’Brien are two of my heroes, I was beyond excited to see this interview in which the two discuss how they came to achieve their successes. It was a great reminder that the road can be long, but it’s one worth taking.
Treat yourself to an hour with these two insightful, brilliant, and yes, funny guys if you’re in need of an extra dose of motivation and inspiration. Do it with a glass of wine while working on a craft, like I did. Because I’m sure that’s how they imagined their audience would watch this.
Who are your inspiration heroes?

I love hearing how other people got where they are.
My mom is totally one of my inspirational heros. She went from a tech career she didn’t like to running a couple of successful creative businesses all at the same time. Since she made the change, about 10 years ago, I swear everytime I see her she looks younger and happier. I hope someday I can enjoy my career enough to age backwards!
I love Conan! One of my closest friends is in the midst of going through some really tough times but is still managing to succeed as a single mom raising two kids while going back to school full time. Definitely inspiring to see her move through this difficult period with such grace and determination!
I love that quote! Another favorite quote of mine is “comparison is the thief of joy” – how true is that? Thanks for the little reminder today, Joy!
Thank you for sharing this video. You know one of my favorite topics is hearing about someone’s creative journey. Apatow seems to be on my radar these days. I saw an interview with him on 60 Minutes (?) and I read the entire issue of last month’s Vanity Fair that Apatow guest edited. I have to admit I didn’t know much about him before these two things and I grew to really appreciate him/his humor. We also recently saw This is 40 and I recommend seeing it if you want a good laugh (plus, some surprisingly heartfelt moments). So, long story short
, I suppose Apatow is acting as inspiration for me right now. Can’t wait to watch this video.
