Is the vintage inspired shape of the three-quarter sleeved, rectangular neckline, tunic/dresses cute in a babydoll-esque sort of way, or is it just the tiniest bit frumpy? In this ultra-short Alice+Olivia tunic
, Serena Williams does look sleek, but there’s something kind of housewife-meets-Star Trek about the color and shape combination. But it looks like I’ll have to get used to the style, since it’s all over the runways this fall. Even my beloved Cynthia Rowley, who is never in bad taste, has done her take on the shape with her Matalasse Dress. Perhaps with a leather belt and a pair of stilettos we could all rock the retro tunic, but I think I’ll stick with the classic wrap dress myself.

Tunics are hard, because I feel like you have to be either really thin or shapely to pull them off. Although I guess you could just belt ‘em, huh? That color is gorgeous, but yeah, the quilting at the neck, cuffs, and bottom hem do make it a bit Trekkie.
