the perfect little black dress

Some people collect baseball cards, or stamps, or teacups. Me? I collect Betsey Johnson dresses. As a teenager, I bypassed all those Cinderella prom gowns in favor of a long, black velvet Betsey with hand-dyed silk ribbon roses running up the deep-V back. I still pull that dress out for formal holiday parties. Now that, ladies, is what we call an investment.

Betsey also designs some pretty wild shoes, and since this dress is so simple any of those would absolutely work, but I’m partial to these gold peep toe heels (Nitetime) with this satin clutch

  1. Ooh, that’s a very Marilyn Monroe dress! Yup, Betsey Johnson is another one of those designers who knows how to create pieces that fit a variety of body types. :)
